Downtime in San Fransisco

July 10th, 2008 by Chris & Shane

Hey there. We’re just enjoying the bay area for some downtime and fixing the bus before our gig tomorrow. The film crew documenting stuff along the way found some nice pics of our attentive audiences.

Hi guys. Just a thank you note for what you are doing. I’m just a small little nobody living in the dust in Africa. Round here I experience the devastation of poverty every day, and let me tell you, it ain’t pretty. It seems that in this crazy world, the things you guys are preaching are the only things that sound sane. Go yell it from the rooftops! You who are strong are fighting for us who are weak. Our prayers are constantly with you.

  2. Still Reading..

    Hi Shane,

I picked up your book at the library and have learned some valuable things so far. I can see how right wing politics often doesn’t resonate with the gospel. Nevertheless, I was amazed at this obvious cop-out on page 181:

“We would pick on the democrats too, but they just don’t happen to have their theology together yet”.

Sorry pal, I have to throw the yellow B.S. flag and penalize you. The democrats have no theology? puh-leeze! How about the liberal belief in the soveriegn individual which has given us the slaughter of 50 million innocent babies since 1973? Are you telling me the democrats weren’t spear-heading the feminist movement, which is ultimately anti-women and anti-children and anti-men to boot?

The democrat’s theology is human equality (we’re all EXACTLY the same) and autonomy (we all can choose whatever we want) run amock. And that doesn’t square with the gospel of Jesus either. The next time you want to remove the mote from the collective eye(s) of the right, maybe you should consider the log in your own eye. Your commitment to everything liberal democrat is obvious. But Jesus wasn’t a democrat any more then He was a republican.

I’ll keep reading.. for now. But I can’t believe your book so far includes no mention of abortion, which is the holocaust of our age. Shame on you for that.

  3. Hey still reading.....

I understand your comment and concern “still reading,” but DO keep reading. One thing you’ll find in the book is a bold challenge to those against abortion to get out there and adopt a baby or be a foster care parent. Mother Theresa is cited as an example of someone who told mothers who didn’t want their babies, “Give them to me.” Perhaps if more churches and Christians were vocal and outspoken in this manner, the first reaction for many struggling wouldn’t be to opt for an abortion because they would know that there were so many people willing and wanting to love and take care of those babies.
